III. Hungarian Open - Mah-jong Championship
9-10th of August, 2008.
The Hungarian Open is organised by the Hungarian Mah-jong Association.
The championship will be held in Dunaújváros (70 kms from the capital, Budapest southly, by the Danube, can be easily reach on the 6th main road or the M6 highway from Budapest), at the Bartók Kamaraszínház és Művészetek Háza (Bartók Béla Chamber Theatre and House of Arts) Dunaújváros, Bartók tér 1., on the 9-10th of August, 2008.

Results
The HO follows the Official International Rules. Observer will be delegated by the EMA, the calculations of scores made by the competitors, in case of doubt referees will help. Sheets for the calculation and printed materials may be used, other devices - cell phone, laptop, satellites etc. - not. The HO will last two days, 5 rounds, all of which is 130 minutes or four wind loops. The begin and the end of the playing time will be indicated with a gong. The playing time can be played fully - but if at least one player asks, after the second loop 10 minutes break can be used.
The winner of the table gets 4, the second 2, the third 1 point, the last player get no point at all. The table-points will give the end-result. If two players has the same table-points, the also calculated total points decide. The competitors take place by a preliminary drawing, their competition sheet will show them, which table they should play at the rounds. The changes of seats will happen as usual from this year.

Arriving of the first swallows, knowing me, knowing you evening, free training at the venue: 18.00-22.00.
August 9th, Saturday
Opening, drawing: 9.00-9.45
First round: 10.00-12.10
Lunch break: 12.10-13.20
Second round: 13.30-15.40
Third round: 16.00-18.10
August 10th, Sunday
Gathering: 8.30-8.45
Fourth round: 9.00-11.10
Fifth round: 11.30-13.40
Lunch: 13.40-14.45
Closing and price-giving ceremony: 15.00
18.00 Starting with bus to Nagyvenyim, to the restaurant Varga Fogadó
19.00 Dinner, then party, music, dance etc.
Registration feeThe registration fee is 3000 HUF (Hungarian forint) which can be pay on Friday in cash. The price includes four tickets which can be use for sandwich, soft drink, a glass of beer or coffee - the buffet of the theatre open all day long for us.
The deadline of the registration is 20th of July 2008.

Prizes: The HO's three best competitors will get precious, artistic unique prizes offered by the Hungarian Mah-jong Association.
Other
While the competition we offer fine accomodation and eating possibilities for those who want. We can place you at comfortable college-rooms of the city's high-school. The building and its rooms are renewed some years ago. The hostel is some minutes walk from the place of the championship.
All the programs and possibilities are optional. We tried to do our best: but if one would like to manage the accomodation/meals/anything else by him/herself, we give all help and assistance of course... Paying in cash (HUF) at the registration - for your full information we will give you the exact price you have to prepare when we confirm your registration. (1 Euro = usually around 260 HUF, you can change at any official change offices - we have a lot int he city, as well as ATMs.)
Waiting you to come: we can show you again, what hospitality means indeed... You all know - we still are Hungarians...

15.00 Arriving to the reserved and exclusive wine-cellar, only for us by the riverside: some drinking, chat etc.
16.00 Early dinner - an old friend of ours cooks a special and really delicious pörkölt - stew - at the venue, we also offer some home-made salads, cookies, fruits etc.) Fine wines and palinkas - we stand no limits... The whole event is all-you-can-eat-and-drink...
22.00 Back to Dunaújváros
12th of August, Tuesday
08.00 Starting with the bus to Visegrád (some 50 kms from Budapest to the north - a beautiful place and castle at the big curve of the Danube...)
11.00 Visegrád - Citadel, some interesting museums, you can even try to shoot with an arrow - perhaps aiming to the winners of the HO...
14.00 Moving to the summer boblanes (it's near the castle), picnic, bob-slading, minigolf
17.00 Back to Rácalmás, the village nearby Dunaújváros
19.30 Arriving, Hungarian-style dinner at Rácalmás
23.00 Back to Dunaújváros
Please, remember: at the forthcoming week-end (16-17th of August) the Austrian Open will be held in Feldkirchen - the compound champion of the two Open will win again the Sisi Cup!
